  • Google Chrome is sneeking into Internet Explorer

I still don't get why so many people are use Internet Explorer. All the other web browsers are better! I know you agree since 2 third of my visitors use Firefox and 20% use Safari.

Yet Google decided that people aren't tech-savvy enough to decide what's better for them. Therefore they found out a way to let developers decide what web browser to use, or more precisely developers can make people under IE use Chrome. This is the point of Google Chrome frame, an plug in for IE.

    Harry Potter's Amusement Park

The success of the 7 Harry Potter novels isn't to be discussed. Now we can watch each of them in movies. The seventh is yet to be released. But that couldn't be enough for the world famous wizard.

Universal Studio has announced the opening of an Harry Potter amusement park in Orlando in spring 2010. People will be able to visit Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.

Project Natal : innovation in video games

Microsoft is definitely innovating this year. Windows 7, Windows Phone, Bing... you name it! But the break through innovation might be for the XBox : the Project Natal.

Nintendo had a great idea with its brand new remote controller you could shake or move to play. But Xbox is going further : no controller. You can use your Xbox thanks to your body or voice. It's just incredible.

    Blog layout decision making process

You may have noticed that I used to propose two different layouts for the main page: one with summaries and one with full articles. The goal wasn't to let it work for ever, but to chose which layout was the best. (click here to see the layout with full articles)

To decide which one I would keep I have 3 different tools:
    • a pool
    • I can let the web surfers which layout they want
    • I can use a metric to measure the efficiency of both layouts
Here is how I collected data and used it to decide which layout to keep.

Chrome will be the Web browser of Sony's computers

Google just signed an agreement with Sony. Chrome will be the pre-installed web browser on Sony's computer.

This is a great news for Chrome which had difficulties to gain market shares. It is now the fourth most used web browser. The distribution varies from one study to another but it seems that IE ranges from 50% to 70%, Firefox from 20% to 40%, Safari from 2% to 5% and Chrome from 1% to 4%.

It's a great move for both companies, because they have both a great image on customers. They will benefit from the I-don't-want-Microsoft-in-my-laptop-but-yet-I'm-still-using-Windows-because-I'm used-to-it spirit and increase the notoriety of each other.

This might be the first step for Chrome's success. Sony might lead the way for other computer brands. (Note that IE will still be available on all VAIOs, there will be 2 web browsers)
