Yesterday, Steve Jobs announced the release of the iPad. The iPad is supposed to the next golden device from Apple. It's basically a tablet PC... or a big iPod Touch.
I was really looking forward Apple's next innovation because the company needed something to sustain its image of a breakthrough innovator. I must say, I'm quite disappointed. There is basically no innovation in the iPad. Take an iPod Touch, get rid of the camera and enlarge the screen to a bit less than 10 inches and you'll have the iPad.
If this device is supposed to replace the iPod, it's too big. If it's supposed to replace laptops or even netbooks, it isn't powerful enough and the keyboard isn't really usable for this use. Plus the iPad doesn't have an USB conection.
So I guess the iPad should compete with Amazon's Kindle and Sony's reader. But the iPad comes with an LCD screen, which makes the reading tiring and highly uncomfortable.
Quality versus Quantity
When creating a website or setting up an on-line service, you should worry about how much information you want to display. It's true that using the Internet makes it easy to have an incredible database. But is it any good?
I'll explain why I really think that quality should be given the priority over quantity.
Hence people can easily get overwhelm by a huge quantity of information. Have you ever felt like making a decision even small and meaningless was an impossible task for you? Have you ever hoped that someone would take an important decision for you? I bet you have...
